Y’all joke and call him a coli father figure and act like he was just a YouTuber, but he had over 1 million followers. Women in my family and coworkers knew who he was.

From the 1980s-2019 all we heard was black men are no good, black men need to do better, and all the good black men are dead, gay, and in jail. He was the first black man to go mainstream and speak out. I don’t agree with everything he said, but his main talking points shifted the narrative.

He was moving our culture in the right direction. Hopefully the message will continue.
