I'm currently employed by a company that pays really well..for my position, i'm getting paid the mid level one would get, but this is only my 3rd year in this field. I love the job, and I get paid every week. The only issue is that I dont get the typical benefits that other companies give, so i'll have to purchase my own insurance to avoid the penalty when its time for tax returns and I dont get taxes taken out my check. I'll have to do a special form when it's tax time.

I just got offered the same position by two different companies. The pay is 5-6k less, and it comes with full benefits and taxes are already taken out. Would any of you sacrifice less money for a company that offers full benefits, or will you stay where you are at?

There are a lot of decisions that go into staying leaving, so I don't have the answer for that..

But I'll say that decent-solid benefits, like healthcare, dental, 401k, etc. can be the equivalent of 10-15k per year in salary..

If you're single then that may not matter as much, if you have a family it's almost a no brainer I think.

Im single. I think the best thing for me to do is work with this company for 1 more school year to stack my bread up then move to something else

My last job had shytty benefits. High deductible health care was the only option. Now, I work for a group of hospitals. They have a medical plan that I use their hospital doctors for healthcare, the prices and deductibles are very low. And since one of these hospitals is literally across the street from my house, is an easy decision.

As for jobs, I have NEVER taken a position that's paid less than my previous one in my life.

The job in at now pays me 10k more than my last one, my benefits are better and cheaper, and I'm now in a state that doesn't have state taxes which puts another 5% of my gross salary back in my pocket.

This is my 3rd year in this field, & the company is paying me almost double to what most folks in their 3rd year make. Ill have to get my own health and dental insurance, but a lot of times its better than what schools will offer anyways.

Benefits are nice but idk if I can give up that extra 6k.

If nobody can match my salary now im staying put

Do you gain any additional perks that your current company doesn't offer(tuition reimbursement, paid training, etc)?

Nope. Im a contractor that gets assigned to a student at a school. The company is based in Philly, but im in Atlanta. So, I work at the school, but not directly for the school.
I go in, work, send them my time sheet and get paid every Monday. Easy money.

If I accept another position id have to stay late for meetings & all that extra stuff.

There used to be a program here in GA where if you teach at a Title 1 school after you are certified, then the state will pay all of your student loans. I think they got rid of that program a few years ago.

But once I finish my degree, I want to eventually work at a HBCU in the athletic department. So retirement benefits isn't a big thing to me either.
