my children have never celebrated it or any other European holidays for that matter because I stopped when I was probably 14 or so. I give gifts all throughout the year at random times and my children have always been happy and have more than most. on the other hand, you are forced to somewhat celebrate it because even though I can take any day off that I want, some of my family members just cant...its one of the few days off they have during the year.
