Samsung 840 Pro SSD vs Crucial M500 SSD?

getting a new laptop and gonna upgrade my drive to a 256 gb samsung or 240 gb crucial. ive seen all over the net that the samsung is the best but does anyone have the crucial and can vouch for it? im more worried about reliability than the marginal speed difference.

and a related question, is it difficult to transer an os (windows 8) to this new drive? frys wants to charge me 100 bucks to do it

I've had both but smaller capacities. Can't go wrong with either but I'd personally go with the Samsung. Their controller is better. Installing Windows 8 is easy bruh.

yeah if i can figure out how to clone the os im definitely gonna get the samsung. u have any good videos or links that could help? im just scared to do it and brick the drive..

Installing the OS is damn near fool proof as long as you don't go randomly formatting shyt.

im talking about cloning w8. i saw the 840 pro has some software, is that easy?

this is pretty simple, really a matter of backing up non essential data, removing non essential data, using software to clone

i already have everything backed up and its a new computer so there wont be anything except the os anyway

The difference between the two is negligible. Get whichever is cheaper. Believe the Pro comes with 6 GB more space than comparable EVO's.
