Being from San Francisco, I have to comment. Quinn is definitely a Bay/Northern Cali legend. He has created hella slaps over the years. Quinn always showed Lakeview love. And that is saying a lot because Lakeview and Fillmoe niccas did not get along for a long time.
I hate to say it, but Frisco is dead as far as Rap. Frisco is pretty much completely gentrified nowadays. The hood ain't even the hood no more in Frisco. Niccas ain't even allowed to come outside in Quinn's hood in Fillmoe because of gang injunctions.
San Francisco has lost its black population faster than any big city in America. Ain't nothing Quinn or anybody from Frisco can do to reverse the black flight. Frisco is a hella fukked up place for black folks to live anyway. No jobs, a very high murder rate for blacks and SF has some of the worst projects in the country like Sunnydale. Even Hunters Point ain't the same no more because The City is tearing down all the jects.
San Francisco has always held it down in terms of the independent game in Rap. Niccas from other places came to Frisco to cop game before they blew up. Case in point, the Game from Compton wouldn't even have had a career if it wasn't for J.T. the Bigga Figga and Fillmoe niccas. Frisco niccas help put Master P on the map and helped him get his independent scratch before he blew up. There were dozens and dozens of niccas putting out classics or solid material from Frisco in the 90's and 2000's. Frisco has its own legends like Cougnut, Nickatina, Cellski, RBL Posse etc. But Frisco ain't never gone be a mainstream Hip Hop hot spot like Atlanta, Miami, Houston, L.A., Chicago etc. But maybe thats a good thing because mainstream rappers come and go while independent rappers get 100% of every dollar they make.

Say bruh, you remember Tabb Doe?
Been tryna find this video/song for years. Andy Kawanami used to play the video constantly on CMC, 94' or 95' I think. The group was definitely outta Frisco but they didn't sound like they was from the bay it as two of them, they was kickin knowledge and at the end of the video this Rappin 4 Tay lookin cat would be doing the get low with some gazelles on.
tabb doe - jake the fake.wmv - YouTube
My potna swear up and down it was this cat^^^^
But the hook on the song I'm talkin about was a reggae type hook, he also said Andy Kawanami directed the video to this on Divisadero...
You remember the video/song I'm talkin about?
Bruh, Iookin back on it, I don't know how the FVCK I kept up with all the music that was droppin in that era...in the bay alone? GOTDAMN,
Between me and my older brother, he put me on the early sh1t. Short, Freddy B....We was from the town, but he had them 1st generation frisco cats also...IMP, Hugh E MC, 4Tay....I had No Prisoners on dub, first time I ever heard a nikka spittin raw like that. Cougnut was that dude, on and off wax.
JT and The GLP, Cellski, RBL, Dre Dog/Nickatina....that's my era right there. So much heat from all sides of the Bay. nikkaz still remember Black C gettin at the town...."I don't eat pu$$y cause I ain't from oakland"
Pooh man started that sh1t on Funky As I Wanna Be. Bruh, check out that Bay Area Appreciation thread CSquare43 started, some good sh1t.
Yeah, I guess Black C was just getting back at the Town from when Too $hort said "Frisco dyke" adding to the out-towner stereotype that The City ain't nothing but phags.
But the Town came hard too. Seagram, 3XKrazy, The Luniz, Dru Down, Ant Banks, Closed Caption, of course Short Dog.
Its good to know somebody knows about Frisco $hit. Hella people that live in the Bay and, even SF, don't eem know about Lakeview or any other turfs in the Sco let alone our rappers.
Yezzir. Nygga ain't knowin about the View. IMP, cougnut, UNLV (baldhead ric, Jwon, swoop) Cam City, Killa Keise, You must be from The Dolph? Randolph & Head?
