Slightly off topic, but...
Redd Foxx was still doing his thing on Sanford in the 80s. But the supporting cast on Sanford was weak. And the lack of Lamont doomed the show.
Cal would have been better off as Lamont's friend that came around more than Rollo or a new neighbor to Fred & Lamont. I don't think Cal should have been a main character... regular sure for the different dynamic, but not a main guy.
