Indicud goes hard. Is it really that left field, though? This new shyt, like @Pinyapplesuckas said, is way left field. Really, the sound is SOMEWHAT similar to Man on the Moon 1, in that it's spacy and melancholy, but the minimalist writing on this shyt is way different than MOTM 1, and it definitely is nothing like Indicud.

only thing similar to me with Indicud and SF is like the intro instrumental to Indicud is in the same vain as the entire SF sound overall

it was sort of left field, but not as much as Satellite Flight since the album seems to be like 80% instrumental and weird sounding...on Indicud he tried to kind of mash as many of his styles together as possible. it was definitely the precursor to this new joint...

Im kind of a fairweather fan when it comes to Cudi. I was all about Cudi when he was buzzing in like 08/09 but I havent been feeling him since. But hes supposed to be working with Emile again... so hopefully he comes through

Yeah idk why he feels like he has to totally eschew rap though... I mean he made it as a rapper... not a beatmaker/musique concrete arranger

thats how they all do it...Mos Def wanna sing...Monch wanna sing....Ye wants to sing..Andre3000 doesnt want to do anything....Lupe wants to just flat out quit...once these cats are mentally over it they dont wanna spit no rhymes and feel like they are moving backwards.

they see so many wack rappers good off of not caring. plus see how fake the game is overall. doesnt make a nikka with a real heart want to keep doing shyt for nothing unless you got a legit backup plan like Ice Cube, Common, etc who have acting to fall back on.

And I think hip hop is missing musicianship as well. Very few artists out there actually know their craft.

Cudi just aint warrant those types of comparisons homie. He thinks hes this mindblowing, ahead-of-his-time producer... Like dude really has said some of the boldest shyt in interviews. Its a pet peeve of mine when people hold him to that regard.

I kid you not dude JUST SAID something similar to this on Arsenio Hall.
When asked by Arsenio Hall who is pushing Hip Hop forward, he basically said
there are only handful of Hip Hop artists pushing the genre forward and that he's
essentially the only one then he went on to name a bunch of Rock Bands that he felt
were great (which essentially told me "I don't fukk with Hip Hop music"). And to top it all off
he went on some social responsibility rant regarding rappers and their musical content.
I haven't listened to the new album just yet (I actually should be checking it out within the hour)
but this sorta stuff is off putting.
So I can relate to what you said in your post, I think he gets over on people with his
mediocre rapping and "singing" and relies largely on his production to carry him.
In a lot of ways he's like Lil B/Trinidad James for the people who look down
on Lil B and Trinidad James.
