We had the PG version of this my roommate in school was addicted to John Travolta flicks Girl I was fukking around with was no-nonsense she started talking shyt on it and the rape scene, I was like i seen this shyt 10 times already they didn't rape anybody

It's a surprisingly unconventional film for it's time and doesn't romanticize the era at all.

All the characters including the leads are flawed and unlikeable. The main character doesn't end up getting the girl. He decides to take his life into his own hands and they remain friends.

I saw it for the first time not too long ago and it was honestly a pretty refreshing watch.
