:mindblown::damn:

40 YEARS!!!!

Easily the most influential show in the history of television.

Been watching since I was 7.

Goat show :ahh:

I congratulate its longevity and all, but let's be real: most of the seasons were lackluster. years 1988-2000 were the best, especially 1989-1996. Untouchable years....but before and after that have been hit or miss...

the 90's and early 00's episodes were the best to me, that's my childhood/teenage years.

now I'll watch it if there's a host I fukk with, I don't watch EVERY episode like I used to back in the day.

chris pratt is dope.

Basically. The show hasn't been consistent in years but it's an institution and its success deserves to be appreciated and touted much like the Simpsons which I'd argue has had just as much impact

Disagree.

The early years were classic. And will ferells years >>>>>>>>> 89-96.

In fact id say those 89-96 years were some of the worst. I cant watch those sandler/myers/farley years. Painfully unfunny most of the time.

Hader/wiig/samberg/forte/sudekis had great seasons together.

People have been saying snl is no good, the cast sucks for 20+ years.

As soon one cast leaves people complain the new cast sucks and the old one was better. People have been saying that over and over.

But every season/cast churns out new stars, classic skits and has an effect on pop culture.

Snl has ALWAYS been hit or miss. People tend to remember old shyt more fondly because they only remember the good skits and forget the bad ones.

Simpsons hasnt had any effect on pop culture in ten years plus. Every season snl has skits that blow up.

The number of stars snl has produced is staggering. And every cast change provides 2-3 more stars.

But the Simpsons has begat so many shows. Arrested development 30 rock south park modern family. The list goes on. It's impact is still felt regardless of whether it becomes a pop culture moment or not. And having a successful movie in 07 is a pop culture moment breh. It wasn't like a "success" it was an actual success critically and commercially. 7-11 redid themselves as Kwik-E-Marts. The show just did a week and a half long marathon that gained viewers as it went on and basically launched FXX. No Simpsons no Conan also. The show continues to have an impact breh even if it's not cool to like it or watch it anymore it's hard to deny its impact.

Phil was cool. But man a lot of the skits back then were bad. I have almost all the best of dvds. And the weakest ones by far are farley/sandler/myers/hartman.

Hell the tracy morgsn one is funnier.

Station here in canada, muxh more music plays old episodes. And most of them from those years are terrible.

Except jack handy. Deep thoughts is the goat.

I'm the biggest Will Ferrell fan on this site and I defend everything he has done, but I can't put him above the Chris Farley, Phil Hartman, Kevin Nealon, Dana Carvey, Mike Myers, Adam Sandler, David Spade years...its not even close actually...'89-'96 are untouchable breh.
