There will be a lot of mentions of cacs, racism, so on and so forth. It's the coli Cats will forget about the success of Blade and Hancock (waits for the usual comments about black stereotypes and WIll not smashing) and rage about the movie they've campaigned for years for flopping. BP should do good based on the source material but it'll come down to the actual quality of the movie. If Guardians did well, there's no reason the King of Wakanda can't

hancock has powers
panther is basically black captain america.

for panther to do numbers they have to make a really really good ass movie like captain america 2 or the dark knight, but even better because black movies sell less than white ones.

if there was a famous black super hero with actual powers he might sell more.
the only one i can think of that i know would sell tickets is green lantern or maybe an war machine spin off movie.
blade won because of all the guns and sword and gadgets plus he low key had vampire powers.
and wesley snipe knows martial arts so those fight scenes were piff.

don cheadle knows martial arts too tho but i don't how to incorporate that into war machine.

Yup if it's good the people will show up. Have Black Panther show up at the end credits of Avengers 2 to build up hype

So much negativity in this thread. We have Tyler perry movies breaking records, but a well-done marvel movie about a black superhero who is the king of his nation and is making moves won't sell?

We previously had black superheroes movies in the big screen do well, with one of them rejuvenating the genre and has started the current run (Blade Trilogy) but a well done black panther movie won't sell?

We just saw a Marvel movie with a tree and a racc00n as part of a team no one knew about (Guardians Of The Galaxy) become a big success, but a well done marvel movie about a black superhero MORE well-known than GOTG won't sell?

Stop making excuses for Marvel and Hollywood. If Marvel puts the same amount of effort as they have in their recent films, especially Cap 2, a Black Panther movie will sell well and be critically acclaimed. The only reason the BP movie hasn't come out is because of Marvel.

And based on of the posts here, some of you are either uber pessimist, have little faith in black audiences supporting this, or low key want the film to fail, should it come out, just to prove a point.

You know it's going to flop unless it's a shyt load of other characters in it with him...it will however do better than blade and be successful compared to the Dr strange, ant man, and xmen movies.

I expect it to be a success depending on what it's compared to.

The movie isn't going to flop. There isn't a single Marvel's movie that have encountered failure in collecting enormous revenue. Black Panther is a member of the Avengers and that is known by the people who enjoy love comic books and animation. The fan base is already there for the film to draw success.
