But whether you like lupe or not doesn't have anything to do with the truth. I don't like religion but that doesn't mean they don't occasionally offer good suggestions on how to love each other. it's a large step in the right direction about how we should begin to look at how we treat each other.
and the lyrics to this song in particular are seriously crazy. i almost can't believe that a major label released this; this is a damn single. that's how much they count on people overlooking lu.

I've mentioned this on here and it gets dismissed.
These new artists coming along and dropping a few conscious lines in songs and interviews that Lupe has been doing in music for years now.

he could easily be more successful with less effort if he simply
1) Not invest so much time in lyrics but instead talk bout drugs and hoes
2) Have negative lyrics instead of positive ones
Instead he puts more effort into what would yield less results, that's so much more work he puts in when you think of it that way
he drops lyrics songs like in the OP that really takes time and even studying and that wouldn't get much airplay.

At this point I don't even know why people bother protesting anymore; the government controls the media and all they need to do is send an undercover police/fbi/cia dude to start shyt up (like they always do), so they can discount the movement and label everyone as "looters and thieves"

I don't know about all that. I think enough of them pay him to 'hang around' that he can get away with doing this kind of stuff. He's not dumb. He doesn't do this in vain. I'd believe that he does it for the people that want to listen to it. It's just fukked up that the people that don't like it are so vocal about it but then mutter "hiphop ain't as good today, tho...".
