Say what you want about the man, but Puff probably has the greatest ear in Hip Hop history.

Keeping it strictly hip hop, saying Puff has the greatest ear ever really rises and falls with how you view the jiggy era.

If you put No Way Out and Harlem World up there with the greatest albums of all time, then you’ve got a point. I don’t though :yeshrug:

doesnt he own that bad boy company...so why are people who are actually in the music business not giving him credit..seems he getting the same treatment as suge to me....:yeshrug:

People in the music business do give him credit, and understand his greatness in regards to putting an album together, which is why you see him being called in to executive produce albums that aren’t Bad Boy projects.

It’s Hip Hop fans that don’t seem to acknowledge him.

Suge has never been asked to EP a non Death Row related project.

I love both those albums and never had a problem with that era.

Those songs were the soundtrack to some of my fondest memories.

I just didn’t want EVERYBODY trying to make that same style of hip hop.

puff just has a ear for rnb misappropiates cultural based rap meets pop.
anyone could go to the club, and repackage artist who got some type of response.
or who have a response spawned by payola.

puff just had resources over most to misappropiate the culture before others in his immediate bracket were able to do in the new school way of thought.
given he was already at mca by way of uptown.
of which mca made uptown the pulse of what commercial based rap was as their new urban misappropiates rap and lisa lisa meets shannon style rnb label.

puff, just so happened to be there and was in the admin loop to continue the cycle after being ousted from uptown.

now what he did to get the resources besides putting a tape into a big mac styro-foam like package we don't know.
we still don't know if the big mac styrofoam actually really existed either.

anyone can misappropriate a culture with resources.
it is the cac colonizer way.

Puff is up there. Hands down, and he knows how to pick singles.

Say what u want but having Biggie do “juicy” was brilliant and great vision for big as an artist. Yeah people would say all he did was take a proven record and remake it, but why doesn’t everybody do that then and have his success....

What he did with Jay on AG was amazing, and he handed jay one of his best produced albums. If there’s one guy I want to Executive Produce my album it’s Diddy. He’ll get u those street records, but will also get u the club record.

Nipsey said it on radio this morning, he called Puff for the alley hoops the same way he did it for Biggie. He said Puff is one of the few people that will executive produce an album and make it cinematic with the street songs and commercialize it without losing authenticity. Puff brought in the hitmen to add sounds to nipsey record, Mario winans is all over that shyt, Puff even called dr Dre old buddy Scott storch in to add a few missing bass lines. Puff is an orchestrator, a visionary, he may not know how to use an instrument but he will think of a result and work with someone until he gets the result that’s in his head, it’s his ideas and concepts. He turned albums into movies.
