Stop breh, you're using logic in a sports discussion. Matt was still under contract for 2 more seasons when we resigned him, but we got a new agreement with him that gave him more guaranteed money but would make his cap number smaller on every subsequent year of his contract. In short, if you have a franchise QB (which the Falcons had every right to believe they had at that time) you lock him up. Why anybody would suggest that we'd allow him to walk or use the franchise tag on him makes absolutely no sense
