I think it's frightful. We are seeing these out of shape 50 year olds re-living the glory days. Trying to insert themselves into rap history. Some stories looking like lies.

I get it, if they're genuine.

But why not make new moves and movements?

Alot of these dudes look greezy and untrustworthy.

And they come from everywhere 80s Bronx, 90s New York, LA.

My bad Im not trying to hate. I'd just rather see people add more value to hip hop.

Them, everyone, me included.

I just see a bunch of them on YouTube.

Am I talking trash? My bad if I am. I'mjust saying I'm not with any of that.

Especially if they're lying.

Whatever.

No I get it. Let’s run it down…

…Wack 100, Gene Deal, Mob James, Big U, random guests on Vlad, Kev Mac, Charleston White, Gangster Chronicles and other platforms, so on and forth…

…50 year old men still sitting around talking about who shot, extorted, and beat up who 30 years ago…as opposed to moving the needle forward and steering the youth in a positive direction.

That's exactly it. Exactly it.

Especially with anything related to 2Pac. His frame of time was what? 5 years? 19-24 or so?

Pac must have had private time. Were these guys - who Ive never heard Pac acknowledge even around enough?

These dudes come off as old players as well. I don't see them with families, or even girlfriends.

Im not trying to diss them. Im for growth, but some of them trip me out. Especially where facts cant be proven.

Just in general, because there's several.

If it's their age and a choice between what Jay Z has achieved or them - in terms of what inspires me - I'd pick Jay.

Yeah I dunno, hard for me to comment or have an opinion without knowing the ppl or the stories they're telling. As someone who's heavy into music I enjoy hearing behind the scenes stories from my favourite era's in Hip Hop, same way a sports fan would be into hearing behind the scenes stories about a favourite player or something along those lines. To each their own though.

Interesting, there's definitely a market for this and to be honest, I feel like it appeals to the deeper rap fans (Talking Gene, Reggie, Mob James). Saying that, their version of crossing over is coming with deeper ducktales and shock value content which is where the lines get blurred and they start going off hearsay.

Kev Mac is an anthropologist and it's dope he's documented the history.

I'd agree with OP that this shyt is not productive for the culture or our people and I wish I didn't enjoy it as much as I did.

There's levels to this, the Wacks and Big U's need to be gone. Charleston needs to not do shyt for shock value. Mob James created a lane that he's squeezing the juice out of and it's pretty corny to see. Gene regurgitating the same old tales with new twists. Reggie needs to get well soon. Vlad can die slow.

Think about it...you ever notice that like 90% of the time we complain about what somebody is doing in hip hop that's detrimental or just annoying, we are casting blame on the wrong person? The vitriol should be aimed at the fans/viewers, 100%.

You don't like that these old heads are getting views for their old ashy ass exaggerated stories? You don't like that some dweeb blogger is making millions and winning? You don't like that wack rappers are shining? You hate how rats and finessers are still grabbing all the headlines? You gotta blame the audience...if there wasn't an audience for it, trust me, it wouldn't exist. Fans are dumb bro, like really really dumb, in regard to what entertains and interests them, generally.

That's what old men do though. They sit back, reminisce and tell old war stories, especially if their around peers. These people were (mostly) there for it. The elders in your family do the same during family gatherings. You'll more likely do the same when you hit 40+

The behind the scenes stories always need to be told, especially since the spotlight today doesn't really embrace the past. And there is an audience for that. They also can't really steer the youth in a positive direction because there's seldom a direct lineage. They're not being ushered into the game by those that came before them. There's no one that came before them that even has that type of leverage anymore.
