School Me On Chromecast

Want to cut them cables and need to know everything about this. I already have access to HBO GO, XFINITY TV, WWE NETWORK, NFL SUNDAY TICKET, NETFLIX etc.

Does Chromecast basically work like them MHL adapters just wireless? What else will I need besides what I already have? Will I be able to watch any of the streaming sites with no problem?
