1991 synth sound

They referring to west coast hip hop, that wuz tha real birth of hip hop

"nikkaz rappin since tha '70s and still never went gold"

bow down and kiss them converse niiiiaaa!

I'm from Brooklyn and I love Westcoast Hip-hop! I was listening to Cube, Dre and Snoop heavy during the early 90's....with that being said.....you need to do ya googles:

This was one of the songs (which contained synth) that helped father Dre's style:

Dre was studying this:

RUN DMC :

A rap group from Hollis, NY would make music industry history in 1986. Run D.M.C. released their 3rd album Raisin' Hell in May 1986. In just two short months, the album would be certified platinum (one million in sales) by the RIAA, the first time in history a rap/hip hop album would reach that level. It would signify that the rap genres was not a fad as some music critics had viewed. In Sept 1986, Raisin' Hell would reach the 2X platinum level and then 3X platinum in March 1987. Building on the tremendous success of Raisin' Hell, Run D.M.C.'s previous album The King of Rock and their follow up album Tougher Than Leather would also reach the platinum level. Other firsts by Run D.M.C. include:
  • The first rap act to chart in the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 more than once
  • The first rap artist with a Top 10 pop charting rap album
  • The first rap artist with gold, platinum, and multi-platinum albums
  • The first rap act to appear on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine
  • One of the first rap acts to receive a Grammy Award nomination
  • The first rap act to make a video appearance on MTV
  • The first rap act to perform at a major arena

This album was certified gold by December 1987:

I don't want to turn this into a East coast vs West Coast thing, cause I absolutely love West Coast hip-hop, but don't shyt on NY's contribution bruh.

In my opinion all regions made significant contributions to the music and more or less influenced each other.

Cacs would have more longevity if they were a more humane people toward non-whites in their music. The world is in shambles with racism and globalization and the best you can come up with is

I wanna hold your hand

and songs about hyper sexuality and depravity. Pathetic.

Even thought he's right that WC Hip Hop didn't introduce synth into Hip Hop
he's completely wrong on it's influences.
It' wasn't Africa bambatta and planet rock but pfunk like Parliament,Funkaldelic, Boosie Collins, George clinton
etc.

Early west coast hip hop from the 80's was heavily influenced by east coast. Keep in mind nikkas was putting out albums in Cali in the early 80s. Listen to some of that early World Class Wrecking Cru, NWA, Ice T, King Tee type of shyt. That P-funk shyt didn't start until the very early 90s. nikkas didn't really start sampling pfunk artist in abundance until the very late 80s. Most of the albums were still 808 driven and break beats, James Brown samples too.

This joint right here sounded literally like a Planet Rock clone

I know that, I should've specified that the G Funk sound wasn't influenced by Planet Rock.
With that said I do think the funk was there pretty early on, on the west coast.
I mean just check out this :

And props on posting Egyptian Lover  Don't think I've seen anyone talk about
him on The Coli before.

Other than negroes trying to show how eclectic their taste in music is. Very few non whites give a fukk about Beatles, rolling stones, and any other stupid rock white folk love, and because they love it, so it has to the best.
