I agree with him when he says Quik is the most talented especially when it comes to incorporating other musicians and creating that sound. Dre is the better overall producer because he has been able to get the BEST out of an artist he's producing. I'd give Dre the edge when it comes to the sampler. Straight Outta Compton and No One Can Do It Better is better than Quik's first 2 albums but Quik has put out better produced music to me since Safe & Sound came out:manny:.

Norfeast groovin…
Quik was truly a victim of his label situation. Under better circumstances, I think Quik would be much more highly regarded. It's a shame he's been a mostly regional act, but anyone that knows Hip Hop and especially the West Coast scene knows that talent wise Quik is just about equal to Dre. It's arguable that he's even better than Dre. It's just that Dre has worked exclusively with more prolific artists and was able to make a real name for himself.

Safe & Sound musically is as good as The Chronic and add to the fact that Quik was actually bangin on wax and bout the shyt he was talkin bout. I'd prolly take the most set-trippin'iest album more seriously than some fantastical super thug shyt like The Chronic.

That discussion is about Quik the artist vs Dre the producer, which isn't a fair one imo..If you look at what Dre did for other artists career from a production standpoint,he should be above Quik.Pound for pound(or track for track) Quik the artist has been more consistent then Dre the artist.I like Quik because he shaped his own sound and perfected it,while Dre sought out other producers and perfected their sound to suit his own(Khalil,Mel-man,Mike Elizondo,Focus,Sir Jinx etc..).Dre signature style is sonically top notch but basic to my ears,he needs steady input from other producers to keep his sounds fresh(whenever that happens),Quik does not imo.

Quik is actually a better producer in modern times than he was in his hayday, what helped his cause was that he was a better rapper than Dr. Dre. That being said, as funky DJ Quiks earlier he was always two or three years behind Dr. Dre, but what equalized them is that Quik is a mean spitta.

People are sleepin on Quik the past 10 yrs but his peak was 95-2000 when he had the Triangle of him/G One/Rob Bacon. Some of the best music I've EVER heard:blessed::ahh:

the only reason this nikka is relevant is because he was nominated for Album Of The Year at the grammy because he has production credits on that Kendrick's album
