I was way too much into Facebook and sharing way too many thoughts and life events publicly.

Then I started realizing 3 things:

1) my feelings about myself were directly linked to how liked my posts were AND MOST IMPORTANTLY I started thinking other people were way happier, traveled to cooler places and were in better relationships.

2) how much what you post makes people form ideas about you and they’d drop things I posted (but not liked or commented on) ‘yes I know you’re not very happy in this city’. Wait, what, you’re my manager..

3) it felt like ‘they’ just want to keep you one of the sheep on there. I knew I would not and can’t achieve real life-altering breakthrough success and even enjoy life day-to-day and see how beautiful life is looking at ridiculous videos, people posing and posting their ‘best version’ of themselves and basically looking at empty content or seeing comment fights.

So I vowed to post max 4 times in 2017.

And I’ve only actively written a post 2 times this year and indicated moving and starting a new job (2 posts were about that move).

I spend MAXIMUM 2 minutes per week on Facebook and after scrolling down a few times I realize fully again how much the contenr is empty and the people oversell their happiness and I log off. I also do not check Notifications, ever, I only did when I posted.

I feel way more now like my actions and the people I allow in my life decide my happiness and I compare way less.

This definitely works for me. There’s no need to deactivate Facebook, it’s handy for signing up to apps and things. But I think you controlling Facebook is bette than how most people experience it: the ‘hit’ of Likes and attention and confirmation they are addicted to.

Boy stop.

In fact, you sound like someone who is completely unaware and ignorant to the world around you. if the creator of Facebook told you that shyt is poison or bad for your health because he made it with those intentions, why are you trying to go against what he said. :mindblown:
who said facebook was the only form of social media? in fact no one in my camp uses facebook anymore
Grandparents? :ohhh:

On some real shyt, I think a lot of these people out here need to step back and take a long, hard look at themselves and their social media pages. Just being completely honest when I say this. Folks are trying way too hard out here and they end up exposing negative things about themselves that they are trying so hard to cover up.

And to think that if people actually took time to notice these negative things about themselves and channeled all that energy from social media to work on themselves where they arent insecure or wilding out, they'd be better off. Folks could actually work on their communication skills, how to control their anxiety, how to be confident with their abilities and themselves without begging for attention from other people and etc.

But folks think its about likes, being the center of attention and etc, letting another person make or break them. fukk that shyt. Even worse, folks don't even know how to communicate anymore like humans. They get nervous or anxious then pick up their phone as a way of hiding. It's ridiculous. I think with social media, it allows people to be fake and avoid reality when they are already avoiding reality to begin with. That's another thing especially with the millenial generation. A lot of folks can't handle the real so can only imagine what will become of the 20s and 30 year olds in the next 20 years. We gonna have a lot of people out here wishing they never had Facebook or had smart phones because reality and life is gonna really happen.
