I think they're trying to market it as a retelling of the novel the Argentinian flick was based on. Of course, if it wasn't for the Argentinian flick these producers would've never heard of the novel in their lifetimes and even if they did, see any reason to turn it into a movie.

The Argentinian movie worked because of the geopolitics at the time.
