Grants and scholarships are basically all but gone even for Valedictorian types they only get partials. Private student loan access went way down and now Fed loans are next.
Generation of kids graduating high school in '16 and beyond are fukked. If you haven't gone to college already even if you started don't finish. You won't be able to anyways unless you pay out of pocket.
Even then do you wanna pay $30k out of pocket (bare minimum) for a degree that won't even help you in the job market? Unless your degree worth at least $150k from a big name most high paying employers aren't checking for you.
What's worse than owing 150k back and earning 150k a year is owing 30k and only making 30k. At least with the 150k job there are other perks, status and shyt that come with it.

The fact that they nominated a billionaire whos never been in a public school OR taken out a student loan who doesnt really see a need for them,whos family has donated 200 million Dollars to fund private/charter schools who believes in privatizing education so thats atleast 20-30k a year out of pocket just to goto college,
and who knows if there will be a fee for k-12. 
Not to mention the fact that she wants to defund public ed. to create more christian schools (to create her kingdom of god) and believes and even funded conversion therapy.
They will see real quick their mistake, and shes the least of our worries we still have a EPA head who doesn't believe in climate change OR the impact humans have on it and is suing them, as well as a head of defense whos on the board of a weapons manufacturing company and the fact that GoldMan Sachs pretty much LEGALLY owns our government now.
These next 4 years will be interesting
