Issues of race are being more openly discussed and at higher levels than they were previously done at, imo. We are also able to have the President actually be able to speak on issues like race from another perspective. We're really lucky.

No doubt, as little as 15 years ago interracial couples STILL weren't really accepted like that. But on the INTERNATIONAL level, between Spygate, net neutrality, support of the Israeli genocide in Palestine, the continuing existence of Guantanamo, lack of presidential input to the GZ situation, the gun trade with the Mexican cartels, the support of Mexican cartels in order to "catch dealers" in the US (), no border control reform, etc etc etc, I don't think it has gotten worse, but I don't think it has gotten much better. I'll give Obama the credit for the moderate US economic recovery, but that about it

america has never really had foreign relations out of choice.. its usually imposed and as things stand uk and us are the weakest links in the west.. the fact that the us has placed sanctions which have affected allied nations is the kind of action that would probably affect foreign relations and accelerate new options the most..

The USA is far less impacted by the happenings in Western Europe. They CHOSE to enact those sanctions in conjunction with the US

I think we are losing influence but its been a trend since Bush and isnt Obama's fault. The Iraq invasion and the stock market crash hurt the perception of America immensely worldwide. This has led to some countries distancing themselves more from us politically, hedging against the American market and dollar economically and made many citizens of other countries all in all get tired of our "act".

and then they got hit with counter sanctions.. ukraine is pivotal to the eu atm but with this world crisis brought about by the same people that bomb for growth, you would be stupid to think theres immunity on either side aside from china.. germany will always trade with russia regardless of what the retarded patriots think.. they have a good relationship as far as tech and resources, and as things stand america has an agressive front and needs to occupy the middle east to maintain its 'growth'.. yes the eu went along with it, but they have to as this is officially a trade war, and they couldnt be seen to waver atleast unless putin rolls over... there is not one person who isnt your average uncultured fox or msnbc viewer that realises this step is gonna shape the coming decades.. europe has officially shot itself in the foot and its due to americas (the war machine) insistance..

This. The Bush era (Iraq, Guantanamo, Florida counting, Katrina...) really destroyed any kind of legitimity the US had, most people in Europe laugh out loud whenever the US talks about "peace", "democracy", "justice" and whatnot. And the fact that we saw all those people die with Katrina and the US stand there helpless also deteriorated the US's image, and let's not even get into the fact that the US rejects any semblance of international law, the weekly killings and so on...I don't think anybody looks to the US as an example any more, and more and more of us see the US as a problem on the world scale. Which was not the case AT ALL pre 9-11 and pre-Iraq. Y'all had incredible international support after 9-11 (even though many, myself included, felt that it was too much, but that's another debate) but squandered it all when you invaded Iraq just because you wanted to. Add to that the crisis in which once again banks caused chaos yet were bailed out. There isn't much sympathy left for the US, and not that much respect neither. I think most of the world (def the EU) goes along with the US because it's safer to do so than not to, but that's it.
