I noticed that, the majority of women who participate in black/urban/hip-hop websites and forums like this one are indeed majority black. Not every female but most females. With that said, I've noticed that this is simply not true on the other end, as the male population on sites like these are majority non-black. Given that they are dominated by males in general, I wonder what the thought process is from females on here who engaged in social construct in topics pertaining to our community with males who don't represent (and actually resent) that community. Can any woman help me with my confusion? What motivates you to participate with the nines?

Is it one of those things where you feel as if there are no other options? Are websites like these simply a "black fix" because you've assimilated in real life? Were you misled into believing it was majority black? If the demographic of this website was confirmed non-black would your opinions of it change?

Most of the males who post here are black. If their sentiments are a representation of the secret thoughts of the average black male then :snoop:

LOL no they aren't.

If their sentiments are a representation of the secret thoughts of the average black male then :snoop:

And this is the main issue I was getting at. Black women wind up formulating an outlook on black men based on the words that are largely stated by non-blacks.

While it takes a lot for me not to negatively generalize black males by what I see here I would be a fool to do so. It is quite taxing though.

black issues and slander towards non black races are discussed a lot for this userbase to not be majority black :skip:

One of the largest threads for the day is a video of a black guy getting beat up by a white guy. The second most popular of the day is a group of blacks being "punked" by a non-black.

One of the largest threads I've ever seen on this forum was the celebration of a black male being beaten by whites. Black issues are discussed with sarcasm and contrary logic galore. Non-blacks are constantly defended at every turn on every issue.

The truth always comes out in the end, and when you pay attention to certain threads you'll see there is no way the user-base is majority black. It's almost laughable to think so.

the difference between this and other websites with a known non black userbase is totally different
if people aren't calling users ******s, black people are posting there, in big numbers, in my experience

An angle that I don't think you're taking into account is maybe that those posters ARE black, and that those are their true feelings.

I think that has more to do with stigma anything else. It's assumed that websites like this are majority black because, quite frankly, they should be. You would think a genre that spawned from black culture and interests that largely attract blacks would indeed have blacks discussing them. However, it just goes to show how strong influence can be. It breeds obsession, envy, and jealousy.

An angle that I don't think you're taking unto account is maybe that those posters ARE black, and that those are their true feelings.

From my perspective, black men have a strong sense of self and pride in their own communities. The black voices that echo "we have to do better" sentiments usually stem from blacks who grew up away from their own. In that case, blacks should take that into account before they feel at liberty to speak on the black communities at large.

Honestly, I don't believe the things being said are true feelings from the mouth of black folk, they're just simply parroting what they've only experienced through the media. They're either non-black, biracial, or grew up apart from blacks.
