Serious question: Is Nate Diaz even a good MMA fighter?

Diaz Bros are good but they are terrible wrestlers and are not good at checking leg kicks. Most of the losses they have are from wrestlers taking them down and just laying on them for a decision. Nate did get knocked out by Thompson and leg kicked to death by Dos Anjos though. Fans love them cuz they have very entertaining style when opponents play their game.

I thought Nate was a black belt in bjj:what:

So the whole thing with McGregor is overblown?

The success against Connor isn't overblown. It's just Connor fights in a style that allows Nate to be successful. Connor isn't a wrestler, he likes to stand and trade, that plays into Nate's strengths. Nate is a black belt in bjj, but MMA rules put jiujitsu guys at a disadvantage. The rounds are 5 minutes and not long enough for some bjj players to operate against la-n-pray wrestlers. Plus MMA gloves don't let you wiggle your hands in between places to go for submissions. The Diaz bros skill set was meant for old school ufc rules. No gloves, no rounds, no time limit.

Man real talk Nick better than Nate. Like if I had to say there best skill, it's face punch absorption. It was time for the Ufc to make that move, there respective division are past them.

The Diaz bros are just average fighters at best good enough to be contenders but not good enough to be champions. Both of them can take alot of damage and still be in the fight but like others said they always get taken down and thats when wrestlers will just lay on them for the rest of the fight

Yes, he's very good but has blatant weaknesses.

Like if I had to rank him in 5 categories:

Striking: 7
Wrestling: 2
BJJ: 8
Toughness: 8
Heart: 9

Both of the DIaz brothers are tougher than their skills would tell, so they get a lot of props for that but truly well rounded guys will beat them more often than not

Nick Diaz at one point was arguably in the P4P. He just didn't get enough fights during that time but you could clearly tell he could hang with the best.

Went toe to toe with GSP, Silva (Silva was caught roided as well) and Condit (toss up fight). He could have won either of those fights as they weren't one sided in any way.

Nate isn't on Nick's level, yet they're both elite strikers IMO. Both have sparred seriously with Andre Ward and have prepped him for fights.
