All I listen to is drugs n guns. Most of them tracks got aggressive, hard ass beats wit speaker melting basslines and chest thumpin mids. Then tha flow an whole cadence of most rappers in this lane be a coo vibe to wrap it all up.

Never ever was brought around that shyt till my early 20s am now 26.

I've always liked "thug/gangsta" music...always gravitated towards it as a kid. Used to beg my mom for three 6 mafia cds.

No, I'd say you don't understand what I'm saying. The cause and effect is set up wrong.

Someone who plays negative music does so because they feel negatively, independent of and prior to playing any songs.

You are right.. I don't have a clue what you're saying. Sometimes I feel very positive, and choose to listen to and be entertained by negative music..

No what I mean by elaborate is what examples have u actually witnessed that it will affect u subconsciously?.....U never elaborated on that...You said you "believe" it does but what examples have u seen with your own eyes........U cant even make an accurate conclusion unless u did a case study.

Man I didn't do a thorough comprehensive study on it and I can't provide you with a power point presentation about it with examples and witnesses and data..

From my own experience, when I have listened to a lot of "trap shyt" I have a more idgaf attitude about certain things. Like one poster said my spirit isn't as bright in a way..

Does this mean I'm a weak impressionable person that's easily influenced? I doubt it. But feel free to disagree with me

IMO it's in tiers.

Tier 1: Money - a lot more people are influenced by trap's perspective on money than I think they give credit for...the hustle and nothing mattering except for cash. not inherently negative in terms of hustle, but it can go overboard. then the next tier...

Tier 2: Sex - slightly fewer than above, still significant

Tier 3: Drugs - "

Tier 4: Violence - far fewer people let the music push them to this, but you're crazy if you don't think it influences people on the edges and nudges some into doing some stupid shyt.

About a year ago I had the realization that the music was impacting me on those 1st and 2nd levels because I was almost strictly on trap. Was low key helping (key word, helping) me into a dirtbag at the fringes who only cared about those things, but i think part of the reason it's so strong is because you get all these other reinforcing messages elsewhere in media (outside of trap / hip-hop).

Your mood determines what music you play, not the other way around.

This.

I'm listening to some early Mobb Deep right now after coming from work. When you hate your job and the circle of people your in, ya need to listen to something hardcore.

From what I can tell, the type of person to listen to that music exclusively already has a skewed mindset, in my opinion, the music just exacerbates who you already are and what you think.
