When someone you love has gone through /is going through shyt that is unchartered territory for you?

In less than 10 years my husband has lost his father (died), his little brother (died), and his best friend. Now to top it off his mother was diagnosed with cancer a little over a month ago. For the most part he does fine but he had a mini breakdown today while we were out to dinner after he was on the phone with his mom and she became short of breath.

I feel bad because I don't know what to say. I can't say that I know how he feels...I don't. I have been through my fair share of shyt but those things have been totally different from what he's experienced.

How to you help someone you love cope with something that you have no personal knowledge with. All I know how to do is be there. Is that enough?

That's all you can do. Love them and be there for them. Especially if it's your husband, make sure that he knows it's safe to breakdown around you, to not be superman for a little bit.

I will keep yall in my prayers.

It's the worst feeling ever when you know how bad your loved one is hurting and you can't fix it for them.

Fee like I read something about being an ear, hugging more, and ask person what you can do to help? I struggle helping my mom and friends down and out.

We all grieve differently, have our own belief system, and Higher Power. But that's your husband, and I'm not married or a wife. So i have no suggestions. Wish you and Him the best.

Only thing you can do is what you're doing now.

Just be a proactive listener - not just a listener.

Understand he's going to be an ass at times, more often than usual.

And some dome every now and then out of the blue should for no reason cheer him up.

And tell him everyday you got his back.

Make him his favourite food, rub his back, tell him u love him & that you will listen to how he's feeling about everything
Just do little things to show you're supporting him no matter what.
Nobody wants to be alone when they're loved ones are dying.

Definitely head at random times without him asking, that goes a long way seriously.. ain't no better feeling in the world then ya shorty necking you off without asking..

When my grandfather passed I was just happy for my girl to be there so I could cry on her shoulder that was good cause I don't talk much.

And food make sure he eat good. And texts and calls asking him do he need anything when y'all not with each other throughout the day.

In all seriousness, go with him to speak with a therapist about it. You can be there for moral support but he needs to talk with someone who is trained in the area of grievance and denial. It will lessen the chance or severity of a future mental/emotional breakdown.

To be honest, all you can do is just be there for them. Let him know that no matter what you'll always be there. Time heals all wounds.

God bless you and your husband. I pray for the best.
