Ive been thinking about this for a while but recently ive become more convinced. My first name is scottish
and my middle name is in the bible but it still sounds off the wall. Shyt is ridiculous. My paternal grandmother's second husband named me...bear in mind she already had 6 sons...4 of whom were living with her and the other 2 with their father's grandmother. Just a bad situation. Im grateful her second husband "stepped up" and was a father figure to my pops/uncles, but damn
Basically your name is supposed to have meaning and remind you of your purpose every time you hear it (according to African teachings) not the mention the thought that goes into the naming rituals. Every time i hear my name im reminded of some Scottish fukkery and whatever slave master had my last name 200 years ago. To top it off my fam is on this bs like "Well
maybe it wasn't that bad for slaves back then, plus your name sounds so distinguished" AKA non-ethnic. Smh
