Death To Spookism

breh, i made this same thread on :hamster: like 3 years ago cause of the mass influx of people who started dikkriding the shyt out of him after he died...and made the entire J Dilla fanbase look corny as fukk.

dude was a great producer, but you had fakkit ass hipsters who acted like the nikka was god AFTER he was already did, and the shyt just became so trendy among the " i don't listen to mainstream hip hop, so i'm better than you" types it caused this obsession with his shyt... you had nikkas who weren't even alive when any of that Pharcyde shyt came out, talking bout how " J Dilla saved their life" when they only found out who he was after he was already dead.

and then on add to that, Charles Hamilton pulled some weirdo shyt talking about " J Dilla produced his album"...then after Ma Yancey got in his ass, he backpedaled off that shyt....with the quickness.

I remember that thread.

But its true though, just like the posthumous Big L fans. :snoop:

I used to make my excuses when that type of fan would walk in the record spot looking all out place and shyt, they make me cringe.

They have the tendency to overrate every thing that they did and really devalue the contributions they made.

talking to a lot of producers, it was a technical thing. now if you were in studio and watched him chop up samples and mix, you'd be amazed (from what i hear) and he'd make so many types of music. and make music using rare and obscure music genres.

now when he died, all the producers and rappers started coming out saying these things. so the common hip hop listener went to find out about it. most can't tell you why he's so special. which is why you barely got any real answers. they just like him, or want to sound like they like him. buy why he's GREAT, was the technical shyt that went into his work

Put in some dope headphones and check out that beat pattern. Dilla was ahead of his time :whew:

shyt is hypnotising, has me in a trance :blessed:

Those chops :blessed:

Only reason dikkheads like to underrate him is because he always put it on for the D and rarely worked with bigger MCs, he put his borough first. If he produced for Jay-Z regularly you'd all be riding his dikk

i was at a dilla tribute show in DC a few years back, and i got more than a few confused looks referring to him as jay dee.

dudes i know that are real heavy on him didn't even know what welcome 2 detroit was until i dug it out of my collection for them :pachaha:. embarrassing, and quite a few of these guys are relatively big names in the (relatively small) dc scene, i'm always tempted to put them on blast on facebook when they hold their dilla e-circle jerks

Really?! That's pathetic....not you, but the 'stans' that don't even know him as Jay Dee.:to:

brehs is all about "dilla saved my life" and "dilla donuts" t shirts without really knowing why

those things are for lupus benefits so i wont hate on them but it was very frustrating as a longtime listener of jay dee to hear everyone gush over donuts but get :ld: when you bring up a slum village song
