A violation of civil liberties anywhere is a violation of civil liberties everywhere... We cannot stand idly by and do nothing... Please sign this petition to help my brother and his family be taken off the No-Fly list. He is a law-abiding U.S. Air Force veteran trying to support his family.
In October, Saadiq, his wife, and their daughter, were detained while visiting Turkey, they were informed that their passports had been flagged by the US Government. They were stripped of their belongings and taken into custody where they have been in a detention facility. Turkish Official's have ASSURED US "Saadiq has committed NO CRIME and was not arrested for any criminal activity." His family has been unjustly imprisoned in a detention facility for weeks with no end in sight.
THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPEN TO SAADIQ. Watch Chris Hayes explain how Saadiq's case fits into the larger pattern of dangerous anti-Muslim hysteria.
In 2012, he was prevented from flying to Oklahoma to visit our sick mother. THOUSAND'S signed my Change.org petition and shamed U.S. officials into allowing him to board a flight home... and then we were subjected to the FBI's 24hr surveillance, planting seeds of suspension in my parent's neighborhood, harassment and being detained at gunpoint. When time came for Saadiq to return to his home and job, for unknown reasons he was denied TWICE and boarded a bus to Mexico to catch a flight back home.
HARD TO BELIEVE? Read Glenn Greenwald's reportingdebunking the widely disseminated smear that Saadiq joined ISIS.
Saadiq has repeatedly stated that he has been unjustly placed on the U.S. "no-fly" list and that his plight demonstrate the list was unconstitutional and violates his right to substantive due process. A lawsuit has been filed in federal court in Alexandria, VA.
PLEASE HELP THE LONG FAMILY IN THEIR JOURNEY FOR JUSTICE!
Saadiq and his family now have n o t h i n g, E V E R Y T H I N G was confiscated and there is no timeline as to when or if they will ever get their belongings back. We are desperately trying to secure their release and bring them all safely home to their loved ones.
You can help the Long family in two ways:
1) Go to https://www.youcaring.com/SaadiqLong and give whatever you can. Your donations will be used to cover their legal fees, airline tickets and replace their belongings.
2) If you cannot give yourself, please pass Saadiq, Oey and Miriam's story to your family, friends and coworkers who may wish to help out with this worthy cause.
Thank you all for your concern and support!
