NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — A sexual assault victim decided to fight back against her attacker to the point of biting his tongue off.
On Friday, police in North Charleston interviewed a woman who said she had been sexually assaulted inside her home.
WCSC reported she had visible bruising and swelling around her face and scratches on her legs and feet. The victim told investigators she had heard a knock on her door around 6:30 a.m. and peered outside to see who it was.
When she didn’t see anyone, she turned and headed back to bed.
Within minutes, another knock was heard and the door and again she went to go check.
When this sequence happened a third time, she opened the door and looked outside.
That’s when she noticed a teen standing at the side of her house, holding a knife with a white handle.
Scared, she tried to run back inside, but the suspect was on top of her before she could shut the door.
The suspect forced his way inside her home, pushed her to the floor, and began punching her, all while screaming at her to “stop fighting, and I won’t hurt you.”
He then asked her where the bedroom was and picked her up.
Once in the bedroom, the teen tried to undress her but stopped after he was kicked in the groin by the victim.
According to Police, that’s when he screamed “now you have to die” and forced his tongue into her mouth.
Trying to defend herself, the victim “bit his tongue as hard as she could until she heard a snap.”
Still having the suspect’s tongue in her mouth, the woman jumped off the bed, chunked it on the kitchen floor and scrambled into her car.
She then went to a nearby business to call the police.
The suspect, who has not been publicly identified, was later found at a Waffle House after his mother called police saying her son was missing his tongue and needed help.
Authorities later found the tongue and knife in the woman’s home.
