Ring Gang did a podcast on it (@LauderdaleBoss, @patscorpio, and myself) and it turned ito a pretty interesting discussion, and made us revisit how good Shane really was at 154 (and the Winky Wright fights).

I pick Mosley even though he was slightly passing it and pushing it at the weight. Didn’t see anything but slightly above mid.

As much as I rate Shane highly, I think Trout would give him hell & might beat him. His south-paw jab would give him problems along with being the bigger man

Yup, I pretty much see it the same way you and Knicks do. Plus Trout throws a lot of punches and mixes it up from time to time. Fight would prolly look like the Winky rematch. Shane would be competitive, but soundly lose.


Shane best win at 154 was a gift (Oscar rematch) while Trout's best win at 154 was a lop-sided ass whupping of a guy that beat Shane at his best weight.

Plus besides Lara, Trout done won rounds and was pretty much a tough fight against the tough comp that beat him. It's not like he got ran over or blanked by everybody.

If Mall and Mell couldn't stop Trout, I doubt Shane does. He was going life and death with Mayorga in that first fight.

I can see Shane getting a late stoppage(whether it's a good stoppage or not) after losing most of the rounds.

Trout outboxes at 154 to big and skilled for Mosley who best division was 135

Shane has wins over a faded Vargas, a dubious decision against ODLH. Didn't really do jack shyt at that weight. Trout did beat the dog shyt out of Cotto, and gave Canelo his first real fight.

I think Trout would probably beat him in a competitive 115-113, 116-113 type of fight.

Power side I think Shane uses ring IQ and frustrates him to win by late stoppage or decision

I agree, Mosley was not that great at 154 and Trout has the right style to give him problems
