I honestly don't understand how world class athlete just say fukk it and let themselves go after they stop playing.

I understand your motabolism slows as you age but you would think being conditioned to train consistently would become a permanent trait.

The way shaq going he not gonna make it to 65 :snoop:

You dedicate 25+ years of your life to being a top athlete, get rich, get famous, and then you don't have to workout anymore, why should you do it? They're basically regular people after they retire, so most guys just let themselves go. Now I do think heavier guys (big men in basketball, DL/OL in NFL) should decondition and get down to healthy weights, because there's no reason to be 6'5 350 if you're not playing sports.

True but I guess it's the person. Being ex military I know guys in their 50's that still get up at 4:00 am and work out. I can't see myself letting my body deteriorate just because I get old. It's almost looked at as a social norm. I was always taught that the older you get the more you should focus on taking care of your body. Athletes can afford to hire personal chefs and work out without having the pressures of working a 9 to 5 gig.

shaq is just a big ass human being. I think you're mistaking him getting old for him getting fat. Shaq is actually in shape and still does karate training and stuff like that

I always think this when I see Shaq, Barkley, random NFL guys etc...

Shaq and Barkley are clearly just two fat guys that were good athletes...
...but the rest of them probably never even considered health because it just came naturally when they were younger.
So now they can do whatever they want and the idea of running/lifting sounds like going back to work.

No excuse. He gonna end up like Andre the Giant or Michael Clarke Duncan

Dead you mean from heart problems?
'Cause Andre had Giantism that caused him to grow so big that eventually led to him getting Acromegaly or some shyt and Michael Clarke was fit enough around the time he caught that heart attack too. Neither were out of shape 'cause they weren't being active at anything like Shaq supposedly is in my opinion.:yeshrug:
