Netflix has dropped the official trailer for Tyler Perry‘s She the People, his first comedy for the streamer.

Terri J. Vaughn stars as Mississippi Lieutenant Governor candidate Antoinette Dunkerson (Vaughn) who wins her election and then realizes her new job will involve a lot more than what she originally signed up for. Per the logline, Dunkerson must figure out how to thrive under a sexist and condescending governor while attempting to keep her family in line now that they’re all in the public eye.

“I hate this politics shyt!”, says Dunkerson’s mom in the trailer, to which Dunkerson replies, “Mama, have you been smoking weed?”

Haven’t seen any hype for this

Basically Jasmine Crockett?
They don't hype a lot of black shows on Netflix. I'm hoping the comedy is grounded. We shall see. Perrys got a new writing team for this so I'm hoping for good things

The white people in this show are menacing. Dam. They did a good job casting. First episode is good. 2nd episode in the govenors office uncomfortable. :whoo:

Episode 3 gets even more awkward damn. This is pretty good. I like how Tyler Perry has you thinking it's going to be one thing and the drama hits these dark turns while still keeping it in the pocket.

This is like a part dramatic horror lol
