A former staffer of Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) has filed a lawsuit accusing her of unlawful termination in retaliation for pursuing legal action over an alleged sexual assault by Damien Jones, a former employee of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation.

In a lawsuit filed last week, the woman, identified only as Jane Doe, accuses Jones of raping her in October 2015, when she was a 19-year-old intern and he was her 30-year-old supervisor at the CBCF, where Jackson Lee chairs the board of directors.

Sexism, like racism, is a power structure. And women, just like minorities, often make decisions that secure their placement within that power structure even if other members of their group/race/sex/etc are hurt in the process.

Let's not forget that congress was so shook of metoo that they completely overhauled their sexual harassment reporting. Millions of dollars were once spent protecting men from the victims they harassed. It's only a matter of time before dominos start falling, because I doubt the victims will be satisfied with this. Sure things are "better" now but does that mean the people who committed crimes in the past should be absolved?
