Sherlock series 3 begins filming in two weeks

The countdown to Sherlock season 3 commences – Martin Freeman confirmed on Graham Norton’s Comic Relief Big Chat that he will reprise his role of Doctor John Watson ‘the week after next’.

The Hobbit star gave cause for celebration among Sherlock fans when he joined Norton for his world-record breaking chat show challenge, announcing that production on the drama will begin sooner than expected.

Sherlock’s return previously kept getting pushed back due to stars Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch being busy with film commitments.

Freeman also gave his opinion on the new series’ storylines – when asked by the host whether he had read the scripts, the actor replied: ‘Yeah, it’s brilliant.’

Sherlock series three is expected to air on BBC One later this year.
