An Antioch man is charged with murdering his neighbor over a leaf blower, police say.

ANTIOCH, Ill. (WLS) -- An Antioch man is charged with murdering his neighbor over a leaf blower, police say.

Antioch police said a little less than two weeks ago, on April 12, they were called to a home in the 40700-block of North Black Oak Drive just after 7:30 p.m. for a report of an unresponsive man in a driveway.

When police and paramedics, they found 59-year-old William Martys had been shot in the head. He was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he was pronounced dead.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday Martys' next door neighbor, 79-year-old Ettore Lacchei, was charged with two counts of first degree murder in Martys' death.

The sheriff's office said their investigation found that on the day he died, Martys had been using a leaf blower in his yard when Lacchei approached him. They argued, and during the argument Lacchei allegedly shot Martys in the head.

Police said they found the likely murder weapon near Lacchei's property line.

Lacchei was arrested Tuesday at his home without incident, police said.

Nah I think this one is pretty standard senseless murder. Killing over a video game, sandwich, etc. These cases where they "fear for their life" and shoot or kill random strangers doing nothing wrong.... I think the old cacs see how the young cacs are and figure they should stop fighting the urge and get their shyt off too

someone here pointed out in another thread that guys like this are basically lusting for a chance to shoot someone before they go, and it looks like it applies here. bet you dollars to donuts that old demon has a disease or something and knows hes gonna go soon and decided to do this.

im not against guns, but this country has lost its mind. any man who would go out in public like that is either scared of his own shadow, mentally ill, or both.

yeah thats just stupid. i only take mine out to clean/maintain it and go target shooting on occasion. i'm not even wild about it.. just dont wanna be caught lacking if somebody decides to kick in my door.

these open carry laws are INSANE. in my state, you dont need a license, and you dont need to take a class. you can just carry it around with you.

just a couple of days ago we had a dude snap and just randomly shoot 2 people. one in the back of the head while he was sitting at the library, and another in the back of the head at a gas station down the road. next day, another guy lost his marbles and started unloading clips at the sky at a gas station for no damn reason. people are going CRAZY.
