Should Beto O'Rourke take on John Cornyn in 2020?

I don't think Beto is quite ready for a presidential run, even though Trump won the presidency with even less experience. But what works for white conservatives doesn't really work for liberals as we all know.

Why not run against the other Texas senator, John Cornyn? The Dems are gonna be flush with cash in 2020, especially with Trump presumably on the ballot. I know it might seem like an uphill battle , but he'll have 2 years to build up momentum and perhaps make it across the finish line next time. Can you imagine how pissed conservatives would be? It would be great. It might actually be even more satisfying than Ted Cruz being defeated.

part of why the race against cruz was competitive was because cruz is not that popular in texas. hes an unpopular uncharismatic weirdo who comes off as very weak and silly. cornyn is a lot more popular in texas: hes just a far right conservative and does not attract that much negative attention.
i think a presidential run would be better for betos chances of winning. abraham lincoln had basically the same level of experience as him when he became president and also lost a senate race immediately before his election.

Gonna be much harder than Cruz.

Texas really fukks with Cornyn like that? I know Texas is a right leaning state but I didn't know Cornyn was super popular. He won in 2014 with 59% of the vote, which I think is actually kind of low because that was a great year for Republicans and bad year for Democrats.

But still, Beto has 2 years to figure out how to beat Cornyn. The Dems have to nominate somebody to run against him, so why not Beto? Who else is gonna have that kind of momentum? If the Dems oust Cornyn with anybody, that will be a very bad sign for the GOP. If they can't win Texas, they'll have to change big time and get rid of the WS tinge from their platform.

if beto doesnt run for president then he should absolutely run for senate against cornyn. noone else would even stand a chance
cornyn won in 2014 with like 33% turnout but he has very high approval ratings in texas right now. if youre ultra conservative theres not really any reason not to like him as opposed to someone like cruz.

Why would any ultra conservative vote for Beto, though? Cruz is basically the same thing as Cornyn in terms of stances, except he's a weirdo

I kinda think that goes both ways, though.
it definitely does. i think its dependent on what happens in the next two years. if trump becomes even more unpopular and the mueller shyt is really hitting i think beto could have a shot down ballot. if hes still very popular with republicans they likely will just have the numbers.

No. Cornyn is way more popular than Cruz.

Beto should be a VP pick or a Cabinet secretary (if Dems win back the WH in 2020).

It’s a waste of time, the only one he could’ve knocked off was Cruz because even Republicans hate him (hate Democrat’s more though).

He should declare spring of next year for President. Its A win/win. Even if he loses the primary and doesn't end up VP, he can run for senate or Governor later on.
