Should cities receive incentives for maintaining a high density?

The suburbs
Hear me out :whoa:

Most sprawling cities are a strain on the environment as the require constant tearing down of natural shyt like plants, trees, grass etc

They also require alot more ppl to use automobiles which is bad for the environment

Dense cities like NYC, Miami and San Francisco are actual CITIES and are able to successfully house a lot of ppl in a small area. My opinion they should be rewarded for doing so :yeshrug:

Density is a good thing for a CITY

Cities that are spread out over 600 square miles
But have a low density are just dumb and redundant

Some places are too densely populated how is that helpful?
too densely populated for what specifically?

obviously there should always be other things taken into account, like whether there are enough resources/services in the area for the size of the population, but that should also play a part into the urban planning.

The suburbs
There’s levels to it yes, but certain places in the US there are ppl living on top of each other. I’m from NJ we got like the top 5 most densely populated cities in the US. There’s no benefit to it I can see
Move to Alabama or Mississippi then

The air quality takes a dip, city services like waste and water are taxed, trying to find parking is disgusting, etc. it’s good for the economy but terrible for everything else

that's fair, but I think there are also ways to address most of these issues as well if the city is planned/run responsibly. this is all a pipe dream anyway, but I do think overall it actually is better for the environment of the planet as a whole to have dense population centers than massive sprawl.

Sprawling cities are also economically a strain to the environment and people.

People really are naive and think having multiple bills just to operate a vehicle is better than taking a train that gets you to point b with no traffic Under 3 dollars a ride

all those people getting fined and arrested for not having a license or operating a vehicle with a suspended license in the south and fly overstates makes a lot of sense when you realize they got little to no other options for transportation.
