i remember i had never seen SOAW before, and i watched it for this exact reason. wondering how the hell he beat out denzel. and what pacino did in that movie, pretending to be blind, is actually pretty incredible if you watch him closely

Al Pacino won for scent of a woman
that year. I still think Denzel had the better performance.That said I remember my pops taking me to this movie when it dropped. I also read the book around that time and loved it.
