Should everyone live alone before moving in with a boyfriend/girlfriend?

My girl and I are planning to move together but we have never lived alone.

We always had roommates or lived with parents.

I'm personally ready to move with her. She is on the same page, but some of my friends (who have never even lived alone themselves) say I should live alone, do some self discovery and then figure out what I want to do.
