I'm looking at an 06 scion xb with 90k miles for 10k. The car is is good condition at a dealer. It's a recent trade and its also a release seres 3.0 with the green paint and DVD player with headrest monitors. Is this too much to pay for a car at such age with the miles on it?

I like it for the utility of it. It's smaller than the element and gets better gas mileage.

KBB suggested prices for private party sale (not dealership)
excellent: $10,047
very good: $9,672
good: $9,397

Test drive it.
Check all doors, windows, mirrors, glove box, door locks, stereo, DVD, radio, seat adjustments, gasoline door, hood, trunk, anything that moves, move it. Anything that adjusts, adjust it. If something, anything doesn't work as designed, you might want to avoid it or lower the price if it is not a biggie. The salesman might not be aware of any problems associated with all used cars in the lot. They just want to get their commission.

ALWAYS buy 'as is' and negotiate a lower price if you are interested in the car. DON'T ask them to fix a problem for an unadjusted price. Because you are buying the vehicle "as is", there is no legal obligation for them to fix it. It's just a nice thing to do. How much does a broken window switch cost to fix? $200. Lower the price by $200, do not ask them to fix it because that's not going to happen. Sales and service are two separate entities. Service dept. might be involved in vacuuming and washing a car to "prep" it, that's about it.

It's at dealership. It's in Marin. These guys won't budge on the price. I must remembers its a Toyota. It's replacing my 1990 240sx that I bought in 2002 with 75k salvage title for 2k. It now has about 170k on it. This is my frst newer car purchase and I want to pay this'd hit off ASAP.

Haha my 240 is beat to hell. The ls1 motor would be worth more than my car.
