If your being serious, Manhattan hotels especially downtown are going to be expensive. Their is all types of sh*t you can do by yourself. Shopping on 5th ave, visit the numerous museums (the Schomburg Center in Harlem is a must), the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center, just a few things.
