Should I keep my resume in PDF format or switch to Word?

PDF unless otherwise requested. Words fukks up a lot of the time when downloaded and it can be edited. If you put it in PDF, it remains stable.

What is stopping you from keeping it in both? I would hedge my bets. If the employer doesn't specify, go PDF just to be safe.

But I usually go with Word for the simple reason that it's a LOT easier to edit a Word doc than a PDF. Occasionally when I'm applying for a job I may make minor edits to my resume to add things I think are relevant to the specific position. Doing that with PDFs would be a pain. That said I have copies in both formats.

Have both, as an employer though, I would prefer now if resumes are sent in PDF, but .doc files are ok too, I just hate the .docx if I see it in that format

I send it in PDF. If I update it on Word, I just resave it as a different file name in PDF. It gets frustrating, but it's worth it.

Sometimes I send both doc and pdf versions. I had an employer respond saying they didn't know what a pdf was and couldn't open it.

You never know what sites or types of applications you will need to fill out, be prepared for everything.

Keep it in word, have your email convert to pdf when you send it. Never send a word version to an employer. Somebody might edit that joint before it gets to its final destination.
