Should some movies be NC-17 instead of R-Rated and kids not allowed?

I saw an advanced screening of Haunted House 2 last night. Marlon was there answering questions. Anyway, some parents when they saw the content took their kids out of the show (though I was surprised at their ignorance. He does pretty much the same humor in all of these type of movies). But some parents of course stayed. But my question is this. Should certain type of movies. Whether it's gore violence or sex scenes be restricted by age? Regardless if a parent think it's ok or not. Or should that be totally left up to the parents?

Marlon said last night that he rather parents watch his movies with their kids then to sneak and watch it by themselves. But at the same time, there was a sex scene with "something" (I won't spoil it if you see it) that went to the extreme with it. Something that you would only see in an X-rated film. And he said he didn't want his son to see ithat part. Which was interesting. So bottom line should there be stricter guidelines with some movies?

Most movies are Pg-13 nowadays...I don't get it. It's like R rated movies are becoming a rarity.

All business. They're trying to expand the audience by making it possible for minors to come see the movie without an adult, and sell more merch.
If you think about it, they've been doing this for a while now. Look at raunchy/violent movies like Police Academy, Robocop, and Revenge of the Nerds. The sequels toned it down to get the PG-13, and now the studios are trying the same thing but skipping the middleman.

I remember the first R rated movie I saw.

It was Speed in 1994. My mom took me and my older sister to see it.

yeah, it's way too obvious they're just trying to make more money when they make those movies PG-13

My parents used to let me and my siblings watch whatever the hell we wanted. I grew up watching Childs Play, Nightmare on Elm Street, Hellraiser...etc etc etc. I'm talking like, I have memories of watching Stephen Kings IT when I was like 5 or 6.

Same thing with videogames, tv, etc.

I feel like this acclimation was beneficial to me.

For that reason, the whole idea of censoring shyt to kids has always been foreign to me. When people tell me shyt like "my parents didn't let me watch horror movies" I'm like....:dwillhuh:

I went to see About Last Night with the bf. A guy was there with 3 kids, probably 4yrs, 6 yrs and 8 yrs. :beli:

I was surprised- there were a lot of sex scenes... I know for damn sure my kids would never be in a movie like that.

Then again though, I see a lot of things I don't agree with/wonuldn't let my kids do.
