It's interesting....on Mike & Mike this morning they were talking about how a former NFL player who is a Hall of Famer ran into Terrell Owens out in California. He said T.O. had in his shopping bag a gold replica NFL Hall of Fame jacket, with his career statistics on the back.
So one of two things are at play here: either (a) he's on the campaign trail with a platform of "let me in the Hall" but with a slogan of "I don't care if you let me in the Hall or not", so as to act as if it does not bother him and that he is thus making fun and light of the situation; or (b) he's somehow trying to sarcastically prove a point about how "insignificant" a gold jacket truly is by showing how easy it is for him to get one to his specifications....basically, mocking the "sacredness" of the jacket and, by extension, the Hall and its voters.
As to the latter point, he will not have much success trying to undermine and discredit an NFL pillar like the Hall. While I agree that its selective methodologies, elitist membership credo and brand of favoritism are p*ssy shyt (don't get me started on baseball), the NFL Hall of Fame is a very hallowed place. Just because one guy mocks it does not mean that it will lose credibility or somehow relent, no matter how RIGHT he is....cause they don't HAVE to...
If anything, T.O. is continuing to hurt his own cause to get in, IF he actually really WANTS to still be in. Cause if he knows that these people are not letting him in only because they may not like him personally, then he needs to just leave it alone and stop talking about it. Perhaps then over time, he would get in...at which time he could say to them, "go to hell ,I don't want to be in", OR he could be grateful. Not sure what dude is really tryinta do anymore other than brand himself, which is understandable cause son gotta eat but likely difficult cause people generally don't LIKE that dude. Otherwise he'd have a cushy media job somewhere.
