In theory, there should be, to allow the mid majors to gradually bridge the competitive gap (building their resources to where they can afford to keep the talent they develop), but we know the Power 5s will make sure this doesn't come into action, anytime soon.

If the current system was around a decade ago Butler would’ve got murdered..Hayward,Shelvin Mack,Matt Howard would’ve been outta there ..Which means butler would’ve never leveled up and the Horizon league as a whole wouldn’t have benefited at all.
Glad the players are getting paid because they should but they gotta figure something out bc right now they’re getting used and abused like a farm system without any real benefits

This would hurt the lower P5/G4 schools the most.
Bluebloods can get talent from anywhere.
Middle-tier squads will often get guys that failed at a Blueblood or were just a poor fit at another mid-level school.
Lower tier P5/G4 is probably getting more guys from D2, SWAC etc.

College players have had freedom for 5> years and ppl already trying to take it back.
These players are free agents. The school isn’t owed anything. It’s not like the university threw in $ for a student to get a visa, gave them access to a science lab and a housing stipend plus an insane research budget — and the person just ran off.
