Should we censor music about infidelity like we do the N-word and murder ?

No. Its a useful tool for people to weed out scumbags.

If a girl youre interested in starts playing her Spotify Playlist and every other song is about cheating and being a ho. You deserve whatever misfortune you get when you invite someone like that into your life. Same thing goes for the ladies who link up with men whose whole energy is augmented by violent or sexually aggressive lyrics. That tells you you're dating a potential piece of garbage.

Music like that might honestly be more poisonous than the songs about murder. What did Chris Brown's "Loyal" add to the culture?

We can acknowledge that a nice Amapiano playlist puts us in a nice mood. We can acknowledge that there are other songs that put us in a sad mood, but when it comes to music celebrating and promoting the deaths of Black people or songs encouraging infidelity we start trotting out bro science about minds being "weak" or "strong".

:beli:

People just making songs about shyt that's already happening, though.

"If I get caught cheating, that don't mean I don't love you" is a very commonly used refrain.

"I took a broke nikka bytch" is also some real life shyt because "these hoes ain't loyal"

:manny:

seems like people are just pointin out their situations...

Usher's Confessions is about infidelity too...but I don't think you'd take offense to it

You're right, I wouldn't take offense to Usher's Confessions because it's a song where he's laying out the damage it will cause to his relationship when his significant other finds out. This is a far cry from songs where fukking someone's bytch is lauded as an achievement.

That’s not possible. If anything you should probably expect MORE songs about infidelity

:pachaha:

Turn on the radio right now and you might hear a song from a guy who says he just fukked his best friends bytch an hour ago and he’s coming for yours next. Then verse 2 crying that he’s lonely and bytches ain’t shyt and he cant trust anybody.

Then next track you have a female rapper bragging about stealing your dad from your mom, making him eat her p*ssy and then kicking him out after emptying his retirement account. Side note: they always brag about having legendary WAP that turns you into a crack addict but somehow every man they come across treats them like Offset Future and Tristan Thompson…
