No lie, I installed a mod to make the combat a lot less annoying.

Higher damage - 2X( which takes 3 hits to kill mannequin monster instead of 6)
Higher weapon durability

That's it. Combat shouldn't be this tedious.

The atmosphere, story, sound engineering, and jump scares are already great. I don't a think grindy and unforgiving combat system makes what is a scary game anymore thrilling. It's just high key annoying.

I'm already super immersed... It taking 6 lead pipe hits to down a basic enemy isn't fun. I think this suffered from being pressure cooked in player testing thinking it's too easy.

:ehh:Gotta give Konami their props…they’ve been doing a great job with their IPs lately. Yeah they had some slip ups with the MGS collection. But that’s way better than that Silent Hill HD collection and pachinko machines.

This storytelling was bold with them with fear of having no choice. That's how the game treats the player.

I know that it's incredibly budget limited and they can only change sooo much with main 3 playthroughs.

If this game had an a real AAA budget. I would imagine that it would of done so much more on those NG runs.

I'm guessing this is heavily inspired by Neir Automata

apparently the creator is someone famous who made a bunch of visual novels with similar concepts where you have to play the game multiple times to get the full picture, so honestly i dont know if its due to budget or just the way he does things. :manny:




His writing has been described as alternating between "macabre scenes and schoolboy humor". He has said, "A story should be like a roller coaster. That is to say before writing a really cruel scene, I have to lift the people's spirits, for example, with a fun scene... Before writing a scene of pure despair, we must go through scenes of hope. And indeed, when I write, all of this amuses me very much." He has cited And Then There Were None as his influence.

just got the true ending :wow:

really enjoyed the story, honestly this probably cracks my top 5 for the year

combat was serviceable, imo it gets better when
you get the Fox Arm abilities

and there's a few Omamoris that make it a bit more interesting

the Sacred Sword in NG+ was cool too

oh and the opening song :banderas:
