this is the reason this debate is so damn hard to have. cause any criticism of pippen is met with guys saying shyt like this. nobody said mike didnt need scottie. and nobody said scottie was a bum.
the point is, as far as sidekicks jordan did not have a sidekick like magic had with kareem, bird had with mchale, kobe had with shaq, or even bron has with wade. those guys mentioned were superstars who could take over the games and dominate if called on to do such. there is a reason mike has 6 finals mvps and that is because scottie never dominated to the point to make it debatable. scottie was not a bum, but he was not a dynamic scorer and could not take over a game regularly. may have happened in spots, but over the course of a season, it was jordan having to go ham, or bust. meanwhile those other guys, if they having a tough shooting night, or if they having a tough time to score defensively, shaq, kareem, mchale, wade, can flat out take over that game and dominate it. scottie was not that type of player. he could effect the game a certain way defensively but offensively he was not dynamic enough to draw double teams to free jordan up. most nights it was still jordan carrying the scoring, jordan setting the tone, jordan closing the game. these other guys with side kicks didnt have that burden.
again this is not saying scottie is a bum, imo he still a top 50 player of all time, but as far as 1-2 punches, you cant compare scottie to wade, shaq, kareem, and mchale. he wasnt that type of superstar.
