Something like this is doable for someone who just graduated college and moved to NY without a roommate. They're used to crammed rooms. With that being said, I'd do everything in my power to get the fukk out of there asap.
The thing people forget about the city is that people are OUTSIDE 24/7.
They go home to shower and sleep, but are outside working, eating, going to events the rest of the time. Not just young people, either.
And the obvious thing for the apt is a futon/sofabed.
This place would be perfect for me had I got into NYU or Hunt or Columbia. I'd be given a studio for Two years anyway to work, so I wouldn't need the space. And I could just get a cot and only need plastic bins for clothes. Perfect for a MFA artist imho
