Jamaica Ranked among 20 Unhealthiest Countries in the World for 2019 - Jamaicans.com

Jamaica has been ranked at Number 16 on the list of the 20 unhealthiest countries in the world in 2019. The list was issued by the Indigo Wellness Index, which provides a global health ranking. The index was compiled by Richard Davies of Bloomsbury Economics, a consulting organization, and published in the journal “Global Perspective” by LetterOne, an investment business. The index is one of the most comprehensive records of its kind and covers 191 countries. The ranking considers ten key criteria: healthy life expectancy, blood pressure, blood glucose (diabetes risk), obesity, depression, happiness, alcohol use, tobacco use, inactivity (too little exercise), and government spending on healthcare.

At Number 16 and a ratio of 0.40, Jamaica had poor scores in several categories, including obesity, government spending on healthcare, smoking, depression and blood glucose level.

At least they have decent healthcare system by 3rd world standards. :manny: I'm sure Haiti should be on that list too but not necessarily for obesity and the healthcare system there is pretty much non-existent unless you're part of the middle-class.

But overall Caribbean people's unhealthy eating tends to come from overuse of rice. The typical serving of rice in a Caribbean mean is 3 to 4 times that of an American's. And mind you we eat that shyt every-single-day whereas Americans dont eat rice on a daily basis like that.

Also with the American influence and big businesses like McDonalds opening franchises in the islands is impacting it too. Tho, they dont really eat McD's like that down there but it' still considered a "treat" to go there.

I still wanna see the full list, tho

And that's a damned shame 'cause Jamaica is a haven for clean eating if you live a vegan/vegetarian lifestyle. The food I've at Bobo Hill alone would make me stop eating meat all together if I could have it all the time.
